We want dialogue without discourse. We want conversation without context. We want autonomy without altruism. We want entitlement without ethic & we can have it all just like that but not without war.
As I sit here reflecting on the world today, I’m yet again struck by the notion that we are all worthy of peace – still. This thought isn’t new, but it feels especially poignant now, given our current climate. We’ve seen so much division, unrest, and struggle. Yet, amid all this turmoil, the idea of peace remains a steadfast beacon, urging us forward.
Think back on history—movements for justice have always faced fierce resistance. From the civil rights era to today’s social justice battles, the pursuit of peace has required immense courage. Our current political landscape, filled with divisive rhetoric and authoritarian tendencies, reminds us of the importance of standing firm in our commitment to justice and peace.
True strength, I’ve come to believe, isn’t about overpowering others. It’s about empowering them. Creating equity. Uplifting those who are marginalized. This means advocating for policies that promote economic justice, social equity, and the protection of human rights.
I often muse over our political discourse, it strikes me that peace isn’t just about the absence of conflict. It’s about justice. Our conversations should prioritize understanding and dialogue over aggression. This involves holding leaders accountable, demanding integrity, and ensuring that every voice, especially the disenfranchised, is heard.
Interestingly, there’s been a notable shift recently—the reemergence of joy in our public discourse. After nearly a decade of pervasive fear and division, joy is making a powerful comeback. This isn’t just a fleeting trend; it’s a profound response to years of adversity. Joy is being celebrated in our communities, art, social movements, and even political activism. It’s a stark contrast to the language of human carnage that seeks to divide us.
Where fear incites violence, joy inspires solidarity and compassion. This resurgence of joy highlights the resilience of the human spirit. It’s a beautiful reminder that even in the darkest times, we can find light and love. Joy becomes a tool for resistance, a means to transform our society.
In this contemplation, I realize that fostering a culture of peace and understanding is a collective effort. Each of us has a role to play. Whether through community organizing, advocacy, or simply educating ourselves and others, we have the power to create change.
So, let’s remember: where there is peace, war cannot exist. Our strength lies in our ability to sustain peace. By supporting one another and standing together, we can build a future where justice and equity prevail. And let joy be our guiding light, reminding us that we are worthy of peace and happiness.

It is beautifully written and heartfelt. The elephant in the room is someone who has severe mental issues and will never see the folly of his actions. Kindness towards each other will help sustain us.
Very interesting write up and I live it. It’s sad that some politicians frown at the simplicity of diversity, equity and inclusion or DEI. There’s nothing more unifying and empowering than welcoming diversity ideas in a given situation, giving these diverse ideas fair consideration or equity, making sure all decisions verse ideas end interests are equally represented or included in policies and regulations. Such diverse and inclusive communities create great communities that are united. A united front leads to peace, while a divided front leads to war, fear, distrust and discrimination. Therefore, peace begins where divisiveness ends, and war begins where unity ends.
