About Me

The Uncommon Intellectual

Marquis Hunt is a Spiritual Director, Interfaith Leader, professional musician and author of The New Human: When People We Love, Love The People We Love. From Little Rock, Arkansas, Hunt is the founder and developer of The FloW, a community-based practice that integrates music, philosophy, and strategic discourse. Marquis has worked on a national and international level helping thousands of individuals reach higher levels of human potential.

Marquis' philosophy, "The Economy of Being," underscores his life’s work and dedication to giving, positioning him as a philanthropic force unlike many who are tied to traditional career paths. This innovative concept emphasizes the limitless nature of love and personal worth, advocating for a world where love is not commodified but seen as an abundant and expansive force.

Interfaith Leadership

The son of a small-town yet influential Pentecostal preacher, Marquis has roots in the Christian tradition. While always a seeker, his spiritual heart, or hridaya as it is known in Hinduism, was transformed in 1998 when he discovered A Course in Miracles, the groundbreaking work by Helen Schucman, which teaches that when we open to Love, each moment in life is a miracle. An avid student of “The Course,” Marquis has helped hundreds of individuals heal their relationship with fear, faith, and Christianity through his work as a spiritual coach. He served for eight years on the board of the Christian Universalist Association, is a founding partner of Group 6-22 (G6-22), a spiritual center for those engaged in intersectional and interfaith justice.

Like the lineage of mystics before him, including Rumi and Kahlil Gibran, Marquis is a poet, preacher, and philosopher. Marquis is a Father, a Lover, an Activist, a champion of Friendship, and a true force of Love for all those in his life and community.

Loving Like Jazz

Marquis blesses audiences with his music, which he views as an extension of his poetic spiritual discourse. He is the host of MOOD Monday, a weekly jazz show on KABF in Arkansas. As an award-winning saxophonist, Marquis has given hundreds of live performances, all of which blend original music, poetry, and conversation to create a fertile atmosphere for joy, inquiry, and connection. He invites the audience to see beyond the obvious in how life and love work.

A PHILANTHROPIC FORCE

Marquis’ philosophy, “The Economy of Being,” underscores his life’s work and dedication to giving, positioning him as a philanthropic force unlike many who are tied to traditional career paths. This innovative concept emphasizes the limitless nature of love and personal worth, advocating for a world where love is not commodified but seen as an abundant and expansive force.
